We run a variety of public events for councils and other groups including Permaculture Blitzes, Veggie Box Giveaways, and popular talks and workshops.

Permaculture Blitzes

Dan and Adam are co-founders of the global permablitz network.  Permablitz is a volunteer network but VEG sometimes runs similar events professionally for councils.  These are great ways to get people doing real, hands on work while coming together as a community and sharing skills related to sustainable living where everyone has a fantastic time (including us!).

“I attended the Whitehorse Permablitz a couple of weekends ago (I was one of the council staff members) and it was a really fantastic event to be a part of. I enjoyed getting my hands dirty in the afternoon. It was a real highlight of Sustainable Living Week. We also got a bit of feed back from residents that attended and it has all been very positive. I hope that I can attend another Permablitz in the future!”

Displays, Talks and Workshops

We give popular talks and workshops at various festivals, and sometimes set up temporary gardens with chooks and food forests.

“Thanks again for the terrific workshops you guys delivered at the recent festivals in Moonee Valley and Hobsons Bay to support the launch of the My Smart Garden program – the feedback has been outstanding with many people saying it was the highlight of them attending the festival!!”

Veggie Box Giveaways

A very popular activity we do is to give away mini-vegie beds in recycled fruit boxes.  We help people make that very first step in growing veggies – planting out the veggies themselves.  In a typical event, we’d give away around 100 boxes.
