Learn how to take your heating and cooking solutions to the moon with Joel Meadows. Joel not only likes to burn things, he likes to burn things well, as in hyper-efficiently. We’re stoked to be hosting this course at Joel’s place in Castlemaine, Victoria where he’ll blow your socks off, shower you, and cook you dinner with a suite of simple, low cost and crazily fuel-efficient technologies.

Joel’s collaborator Tim Barker talks through a rocket stove hotplate/oven unit on a previous VEG workshop

In this one evening and two-day workshop we’ll see and/or build:

  • Low-tech in-place rocket stoves for household cooking (hotplate and oven)
  • In-place rocket stove house-scale hot water heaters
  • High-tech heat exchanger rocket-powered hotwater boosters
  • Micro-rocket stoves that can fit in a bike pannier (perfect for camping)
  • TLUD (top-lit updraft) stoves
  • Rammed sawdust stoves
  • Biolight thermoelectric stoves
  • Hyper-efficient solar-cooking

The Rocket Oven we built on a previous workshop (along with a rocket hot-water heater and a mini-rocket cooker all of which are working an absolute treat to this day).

See a full report on our last Rocket Stove workshop  here, and here are some testimonials:
