Edible Weeds Walk (now in your backyard)
Date(s) - 28 Aug
10:30 am - 1:00 pm
This was going to be an in person walk but due to lockdown instead we’ll do it online. It’s actually fun online, as you can be sitting in your own backyard surrounded by your own plants to taste! You can send through photos of your own weeds for us to ID together. And we’re also making it free for front-line workers.
What if many of the weeds in our garden were just as edible as the vegetables we tend beside them?
What if some of these these free, all-too-easy-to-grow uninvited guests were so nutritionally dense that they are just about the healthiest things you could possibly eat?
What if many of them also had medical traditions dating back centuries?
Well it’s all true! And if you know what to choose, they also taste great. A gastronomic adventure awaits the knowledgeable forager, and a free living pharmacy…
Join Adam Grubb co-author of the full colour field guide The Weed Forager’s Handbook, for a fascinating walk on the wild side. Copies of the book will be available for the special price of only $20, with identification, edibility, medicinal notes and intriguing historical and folkloric stories about the weeds.
Course price: $25 ($22 per person group price / $20 concession). First Nations peoples, retail or essential services workers, or anyone struggling financially click here to get a coupon for a free ticket.
Location: Online, and in your own backyard — a zoom link will be emailed before the course.

Kids note: Yes, kids can come; but read the conditions.
Weather note: We’ve almost never had to do this, but we will cancel and refund you if extreme weather is forecast. In case you’re interested, the cutoffs for what we call extreme are here.
