Edible Weeds Walk (now online!)
Date(s) - 25 Apr
1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Merri Creek (exact location TBC)
We’ve decided to move these courses to an online format for the foreseeable future! What does this mean? Adam will be solo live-streaming out and about in the wilds, picking weeds and showing you what’s growing. Pre-pick weeds from your garden and towards the end of the session we’ll have the option of turning on your video and we’ll do some ID-ing together. There will be post-course email ID support. It should be fun. Also we’re making it free for frontline workers and have reduced our concession rate to $15.
What if many of the weeds in our garden were just as edible as the vegetables we tend beside them?
What if some of these free, all-too-easy-to-grow uninvited guests were so nutritionally dense that they are just about the healthiest things you could possibly eat?
What if many of them also had medical traditions dating back centuries?
Well it’s all true! And if you know what to choose, they also taste great. A gastronomic adventure awaits the knowledgeable forager, and a free living pharmacy…
Join Adam Grubb co-author of the full colour field guide The Weed Forager’s Handbook, for a fascinating walk on the wild side. Copies of the book will be available for the special price of only $20, with identification, edibility, medicinal notes and intriguing historical and folkloric stories about the weeds.
Course price: $25 ($15 concession) or $35 for a household. Free for frontline workers.
Location: We’ll be on location on the Merri Creek, Brunswick East. You can use the program Zoom (don’t worry if you haven’t used it, it sets up quickly and easily) to join us online.
