During the last little while we have had the pleasure of working with Carol and Allan from Warrandyte on the design and implementation of their new very edible garden.  The implementation was assisted with two most awesome permablitzes and here are a few clips and photos of the progress to date…

First up here’s the design that VEG’s Dan, Adam and Will put together with Carol some time back

Next, here’s a very short youtube showing how things sat on the morning of the first blitz

Meanwhile Carol was preparing truly amazing feasts inside

And we prepared a job board for the day…

Before folk arrived (about 30 at the first and 15 at the second blitz) and got into it.  One job was the ‘wicking wonderland’ – four large raised wicking VEG Beds.

Getting started

Action stations!

Making the bed…

Carey’s tightrope act…

Go team!

We also worked on a VEG Chook System with a strawyard, house and run

Et voila!

And here’s the magical chicken tunnel (made from recycled supermarket shelving) allowing Carol to effortlessly pulse the power of chook through the garden

Step one…

Step two…

Step three!

We also made a start on planting some fruit trees into the chook-powered mini-orchard terrace – always nice to get to the point where the actual edible bits of the edible garden can be planted!

Thanks all for two wonderful blitzes and to Carol and Allan for being the hosts with the most… Stay tuned for pics of the chooks using the tunnel as last week Carol & Allan’s new feathered friends arrived!
