Well we had ourselves a big fat weekend of fun and games, with a big mini garden giveaway at the Altona Beach Festival on Saturday (in collaboration with Hobson’s Bay Council)…

Luke and Adam enjoy a moment of calm before the storm of 50 take-home gardens going out in about 30 minutes…

The Veg chook tractor always a fave….

What a winning smile young Adam sports, and what happened to the top of Dan’s hat?…

…and on Sunday a stall and a talk at the Maribyrnong Pet Expo (along with ferrets, rats, snakes etc).  Thanks to David and the others from the Victorian Rat Fancier’s Association for helping us get our bed back on the trailer!  Our chook tractor was extremely popular with both children and dogs.  On the right hand side of the photo you can see our dog-poo-powered worm farm which was also the subject of much interest.  So it should be when you think about the toxic quantities of dog poo going into landfill every weekl!

On Sunday Nath and Adam were talking and stalling at the Whittlesea Community Festival in Lalor.  So it was a big one, but it turns out that this coming weekend is even bigger!  On Saturday we’re giving a free workshop on Chooks for Brimbank Council and on Sunday we have three events simultaneously: we’re hosting a permablitz for Whitehourse council, we’re running another mini-garden give-away in Moonee Ponds, and we’re speaking at having a stall at Petty’s Orchard’s Annual Apple Tasting Day.  Whew!  Hopefully we get a break after that for a few weekends before our next Intro to Permaculture Starting Saturday April 30th.
